Works in Progress

We brace for impact, climb through the wreckage pause to survey all the damage. Leave the scene then, flames to our back no time to think of where we went wrong, just can't fail again. In the daylight, we know our orders, put an end to it all or else turn the clock back this end world fad grows old, grows so old. We want the stories of our youth, want to feel young again. What did those pop sensibilities ever do to you? We used to have heroes who mattered, strength measured in leaps and bounds, stories that had more depth than death. When did cynicism win? When did our silver age end? I thought you were an icon we could trust I never took you to be so nebulous but I was wrong to place my faith in those imaginary stories

Tracking stars, counting steps, won't get lost I'll make it there on time can't let you down, I'll make it up to you but here I am bound to lose. I never wanted to drag this out to lose sight of what it meant or what it could have been but some where, and some when I gave in to all those thoughts of how I was bound to lose Now I guess you want to know where the weakness all took hold. I'm not certain I should stay, but I'll stick around a while anyway. Ticking off each little box on the list of what I could have said instead of what came out when I knew I lost. Now I guess you want to know where the weakness all took hold. I'm not certain I should stay, but I'll stick around a while anyway. Tracking stars, counting steps, won't get lost I'll make it there on time can't let you down, I'll make it up to you but here I am bound to lose.

Alice let her guard down opened up on a weak night in a cold town elsewhere thought she'd know better by now I won't tell you to make a move but let's say I won't mind. We don't have to leave we can stick around here heaven knows we've got the time. The red of his coat matches the red on the snow, all those drops leading off somewhere Over in that bush, no one ever goes hid the shoes, hid the belt, made off with enough cash hid the shoes, hid the belt, made off with all his cash.
