Let's pretend you've got me figured out down to decorated lapels and stray hairs; I see you calculating answers, balancing lies like your father's ledger. Maybe that profile you've built puts across a certain image, but I've been at this a while and I've got fronts on fronts on fronts. From nightclub scene to in your bed I'm trying to make you forget the details of the ties we've formed and the lives on which we've bet. And in a certain state of mind I'm sure you would agree, whatever deals that I've cut will only help you and me. 'Cause when the lights all go out and there's nothing left to see, we'll be warm and safe and still living quite carefree. When those morals finally sink in and you're wondering what you're in to, all I ask is that you remember where you were before you found your way.

When it comes to you, there's always a slight issue keeping me from taking this seriously, keeping me from holding my breath. Maybe some day, my defenses will be lowered, I'll be receptive to giving in, giving in. I don't think we'll get this right in a sensible amount of time, in the moment that it clicks all our troubles won't fade away, we'll find ourselves a new mess and we'll be right back at the start again. I was aware when it started this could only end one way; but I never liked being proven right in my worst assumptions. I don't think we'll get this right in a sensible amount of time, in the moment that it clicks all our troubles won't fade away, we'll find ourselves a new mess and we'll be right back at the start again.

The sun is rising and no matter how fast he drives, it will never be enough to outrun the thoughts taking root inside his head or to wash his bloody hands clean enough to live again. A shot in the dark and he is wide awake, far too late, aware now that it will all be over, all be over soon. There'll be no more running, no more places left to hide and he knows, and he knows that he can't go back, he can never go back again. Going 80 on a one way road he is hoping for a crash to end it all and take away the memories of a past he can't forget... A shot in the dark and he is wide awake, far too late, aware now that it will all be over, all be over soon. There'll be no more running, no more places left to hide and he knows, and he knows that he can't go back, he can never go back again.

Made my way down the pacific coast, thought it'd offer some escape from all those stupid actions that had been caught on tape. But it didn't matter what route I took it all led to the same look spreading out across your face, putting me right back in my place. I'll count my way down the hours till I've aged just enough to know better than to think that you won't call my bluff. But it didn't matter what route I took it all led to the same look spreading out across your face, putting me right back in my place.

I hid your letters from everybody else I hoarded phrases, kept your words to myself and in time I know that you will repappear No explanation, no attempt to make things clear. It didn't matter that you left me all alone without a way out or a hope of getting home, 'cause I maintained faith in the strength of your plan and I'll be waiting here until you're back again, calling out all those who gave up on the cause, singling out all those who deserve to fall to a phantom zone. In the shadows I have seen a better way to an exit, to some kind of other place. But I'm not tempted to go out on my own, to carve a new path and forget what I am owed. It didn't matter that you left me all alone without a way out or a hope of getting home, 'cause I maintained faith in the strength of your plan and I'll be waiting here until you're back again, calling out all those who gave up on the cause, singling out all those who deserve to fall to a phantom zone. I could track you down and make this count. I could find you, I'd figure it out all too soon. It didn't matter that you left me all alone without a way out or a hope of getting home, 'cause I maintained faith in the strength of your plan and I'll be waiting here until you're back again, calling out all those who gave up on the cause, singling out all those who deserve to fall to a phantom zone.

There was a disagreement and I don't remember who got hurt first. I said some words, you took a swing, we wound up tangled in sheets. And in a desperate way, we made fun of the pain-- created a game 'round red marks, drawing blood, lack of breath. Count down until this gets permanent, count down until we are unconscious-- sprained, broken by what we've said. Heaving, bruised on every surface. I reach out for opportunity, chance to leave a scar, I don't even care who on. All that matters is the effort it takes. Count down until this gets permanent, mark my words until we're unconscious-- sprained, broken by what we've said. There was a disagreement and I don't remember who got hurt first. I said some words, you took a swing, we wound up tangled in sheets. And in a desperate way, we made fun of the pain-- created a game 'round red marks, lack of blood, lack of breath.

Give me time to strategize, read what's in your eyes. Is that look meant to indicate before I speak I should wait? I should wait, I should wait, I should wait, I should wait, I should wait, I should wait. Should I let your words sink in? Or am I meant to begin? With this defense I prepared as I was ensnared in this Trap, in this trap; in this trap, in this trap. In this trap, in this trap. I watch as it all falls apart on me. I watch as it breaks down completely.

I'm not the last of my kind but I may as well be. I'm left floating along, just silence to navigate. And deep within I've got a secret space, where all my darker traits go, where all my thoughts are left enclosed. I can't let you in. I can't let you see. I can't let you know about this part of me. Because if you did, where would we go? You'll have to have my forgiveness if I'm to let you on board. I can't take too much cargo, can't hold too much weight. 'Cause where we're going, honey, don't think there's too much you'll need. All you should bring along is the bare essentials. I can't let you in. I can't let you see. I can't let you know about this part of me. Because if you did, where would we go?
